Marshallese handcrafts are an important part of the economy of the Marshall Islands.
Marshallese Outreach
Lincoln Laboratory serves as the scientific advisor to the Reagan Test Site (RTS) on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Staff members who accept field-site assignments at RTS typically serve two- to three-year tours, and they and their families become part of the site’s community. The amiable relationship enjoyed by the Laboratory staff and the local community has prompted the initiation of the Marshallese Outreach program, developed to enrich educational and life experiences of the Marshallese people.

The Marshallese Outreach program seeks to assist residents by three main initiatives:
The Kwajalein Atoll (above) in the Marshall Islands is located about 2500 miles WSW of Hawaii.- Display and sell Marshallese handcrafts at the Laboratory's main complex in Lexington to support Marshallese artisans and their families.
- Support the Marshallese student lunch program on Kwajalein through donations.
- Establish a co-op program for Marshallese college students in which participants will spend a summer at a Lincoln Laboratory facility.
