Outreach Mission

Lincoln Laboratory Community Outreach (LLCO) is an initiative to promote community giving and education in science and engineering in partnership with the MIT Public Service Center. Outreach programs capitalize on the strengths of the Lincoln Laboratory scientific community and strive to integrate service with education and research.

Educational Outreach

Our K–12 science education programs include:

  • Science on Saturday―Fun, free science demonstrations at Lincoln Laboratory several times each school year.
  • Classroom Presentations―Free presentations in local K–12 classrooms by Lincoln Laboratory scientists and engineers.
  • Ceres Connection―Naming minor planets after students and teachers to promote interest in science.
  • FIRST Robotics Competition―Helping students learn about robotics and engineering by advising robot-building teams competing in FIRST.
  • LIFT2 Teacher Externships―Summer positions for middle and high school teachers.

Community Service and Giving

The main goal of LLCO's special events is to engage Lincoln Laboratory employees in activities to support worthy causes and contribute to the overall quality of life within and outside of our community. 

Our community service and giving programs include:

  • Support Our Troops program
  • National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Hike & Bike the Berkshires
  • 5K Fun Run for Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA)
  • Community Giving Used Book Sale / Clothing and Food Drives
